Dorados in the cold II – Upper Parana river

AlexanderArgentina, Dorado

After two days fishing at La Zona, I took a 10 hour bus ride to Corrientes, and then jumped into a taxi to reach a little town further north. There, I met two good friends who are expert guides in the Parana river, Peto and Mariano. Almost immediately after the arrival they showed me a photo of a beautiful catfish that they caught the day before. It was an 80 pound Surubi, huge fish!!!

Next day we got up at five in the morning and headed to the Parana River. This river section is very interesting because the water is pretty clear compared to the lower Parana. We were able to use floating lines and  see the fish taking the big and bulky flies. We caught three different fish species, Dorado, Pira-Pita dorado and Pira-pita Blanco, all of them are very good fighters.

We fished the area three days in total and covered over 100 km of the Parana, including Paso de la Patria, Yahape and Repeski. The fishing was very good and the scenery is even better, it is a real paradise.
