Kooi Noom 2014/15 season opening fishing report

After a great first season we are glad to share with all of you our first report of this new season at Kooin Noom. We are definitely into the beginning of a very good season, here is a brief report of what we have seen so far.

Fishing.

Fishing has been superb every day, there was definitely a very good quantity of fish almost in every section. We concentrated the fishing in the upper part of the Capitan river and the Quiroga lake outlet. There were very big dark males around and most of the bright fish are females right now. We could spot almost every single fish we caught in this water.

Most of the fishing we did was on nymphs and small streamers on the swing. We also tried dries a bit with no much success. There is plenty of fish in Tabia creek for smaller size rods.

Weather conditions.

Summer came a bit earlier this year in all of Patagonia. Surprisingly temperature was a bit higher in average than the past season. From 0° C early morning to 15°C around the afternoons. We had some snow falling in Quiroga Lake and some shower during these first ten days. Wind was pretty nasty but we are fortunate to have some great sheltered spots.

Water Conditions.

Due lower precipitations in the whole area we could say snow melting started earlier and the water level in general is high. Lake Quiroga and the upper section of the Capitan River are gin clear and at a good level. Toro lake, Tabia creek and the lower section of the Capitan river are a bit coloured due some tributaries that come from snow melting in dirt zones.
