Update from Patagonia – covid-19 impact and our response

This week we are busy closing down our king Salmon camp in Chile as the world works together to fight the spread of the Coronavirus. Across much of Patagonia, and elsewhere across the globe, many fly fishing destinations are ending their seasons early, or postponing their start, as government travel restrictions temporarily limit the mobility of non-essential industries.

This is an unprecedented moment, but we will get through it together. Many industries, and the people who depend upon them for their income, are experiencing large disruptions. The fly fishing industry is no exception. Anglers are missing out on wonderful experiences while guides, outfitters, lodge staff, fly shops, and travel agents are seeing their livelihood impacted or disappear entirely.

We want to take this moment to thank everyone who fished with us this season. We can’t wait to get on the water again when this emergency has passed. Until then, please let us help wherever possible. Give us a call to discuss rescheduling any missed trip, or to answer questions about upcoming trips and how they could be affected. It also might be a great time to think about the adventures on the water we can look forward to when the threat of Coronavirus has passed and travel restrictions are lifted!

We’d also like to especially thank all of our guests who happily rescheduled their trip for next year as the travel bans took place. Your cooperation and support are greatly appreciated by everyone here.

From all of us at Faraway Fly Fishing, we hope you and your families are healthy and safe and are weathering this challenging time well. We are working to take care of our own families, employees, and partners and look forward to seeing all of you again on the water soon.
